About

APN Country Music.com was created by Jack Harris and Jim Pombriant.

(The Colonel ) Jack Harris was born in Greensboro, N.C., and moved to Virginia in 1973, where he worked with Entam LTD for a number of years. He worked producing shows for such acts as Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Neil Diamond, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, Hank Williams Jr., and many others, doing extensive behind-the-scenes work with Jody Cadwell and James Watlington to bring Tidewater, Va., some of the greatest rock shows ever produced. He later formed a partnership with Charles (Sonny) Hughes, and they promoted music events with such acts as Lonestar, when John Rich was their bassist. Later, they ventured into sanctioned boxing matches for several years. For a brief time, he worked with Tree Top Sound guru Ace Kelly, whose company handled lights and sound for the legendary Merl Haggard. For over 10 years, Ace gave Jack an education second to none in the art of sound blends. Jack worked with many local bands in the Tidewater, Va., area over the years, running sound and lights. The band, now Southern Heartland, featuring Paul Spencer, Jack, and the boys, opened for such acts as David Lee Murphy, John Anderson, and many others. In April 2012, Jack was managing an up-and-coming talent when he met (The Godfather) Jim Pombriant, owner of APphotonews.com, at the Runaway Country Music Festival in Melbourne, Fl. They struck a friendship and continued to cover events in Florida, where the talent he managed opened for Kix Brooks and Scotty McCleary. At the CMA Music Festival in 2012, while covering the events for APphotonews, Jack met the legendary Capt. Jack Aponte, owner of RenegadeRadioNashville.com, at the famous Silver Dollar Saloon, where Jack was interviewing the acts that Capt. Jack was headlining there. The two struck up a friendship, and together they are working on ideals and up-coming events for the industry. Joining our staff, Gary Compton will be coordinating with Jack for up-coming events in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and all of the eastern United States. Gary is a native Virginian and began playing music at the age of ten. He has been involved with music and the music industry most of his adult life. Gary began writing music in his late teens as a hobby, then began to develop his writing skills in his mid-twenties. Now, well into his fifth decade of being immersed in music, Gary works with various co-writers in and out of Nashville, penning songs that have been recorded by various country and contemporary Christian artists. Gary owns his own publishing company, Gravel Road Music, and has two books being published in the spring of 2013 entitled Coffee with Alex and Daily Velocity. Both books deal with directing and nurturing budding entrepreneurs and instructing them on how to succeed in starting a business and building self-reliance. “When Jack asked me to be a part of Eagle Rock Promotions, I jumped at the chance to work with him and his partners!” said Compton. “Jack has a reputation for getting things done, and I wanted to be a part of that. In this business, you get few chances to work with those guys who have been around and understand how great promotion teams are built, so when the opportunity presented itself, he didn’t have to ask twice.” Compton will work with Jack and his team while living in southeastern Virginia and beating a path back and forth to Nashville and the Gulf Coast of Florida—his “homes away from home.”. We at Eagle Rock are proud to have Gary on our team. And we look forward to working with Gary with all his connections, his wealth of talent, and his extensive knowledge of the music industry. While at CMA Fest. in June 2014, Jack met Dannie Johnston, owner of D&D Productions. Jack & Dannie are now working on concert tours throughout the US for 2015 and 2016. Dannie and Jack are, at this point in time, putting together a wounded warrior's military base tour.
