Jason Aldean lands this year’s only platinum-selling country album

Jason Aldean is in elite — and extremely sparse — company in 2014′s heavy metal club. Inform reports he is one of only three artists, and the only country star, to score platinum sales on an album released this year, based on Recording Industry Assn. of America statistics.

His “Old Boots, New Dirt” set, which debuted at the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 chart in October, has now sold more than one million units. That means he’s the only country star to release a platinum-seller in 2014, and joins only Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande in platinum album sales for albums released this year. Taylor, who previously spanned genres as both a country and pop star, fully made the transition to pop with her fall set, “1989.”

Trace surprised guests by working behind the front desk for a short time, then gave a surprise holiday performance in the lobby. Afterwards he joined the Carlson Family Foundation and presented a $50,000 donation to the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

“It feels great to be back home in Nashville today working with Country Inns & Suites staff, guests and Wounded Warrior Project,” Trace said in a statement. “Being able to perform a short holiday show and help the Carlson Family Foundation present a donation to Wounded Warrior Project makes my time here even more special!”

The WWP helps “fund the organization’s Economic Empowerment pillar that helps families of veterans achieve long-term financial stability through training, education and employment services,” details an event press release.

The Carlson Family Foundation is further sponsoring Trace’s onstage Christmas tree giveaway throughout his current the Christmas Show 2014 tour. Trace will donate the large Christmas tree — featured onstage — from each of his 26 tour-dates, to a local charity each night.

Craig Wayne Boyd in The Voice Finals

Tuesday night’s (Dec. 9) episode of ‘The Voice’ was an important one. The Top 3 artists were announced before the unpredictable Wild Card Night began.

The very first save was for Team Adam’s Chris Jamison, who showed a look of a relief having made it. The second contestant was one that country music fans seem to approve of: Team Blake Shelton‘s Craig Wayne Boyd! While he was the only possibility for Team Blake, as he is the last man standing on that team, he’s earned his right to enter the finals. When Boyd’s name was called, he looked happy and relieved. His family seemed to feel the same — they, including his young son, were shown in the audience.

The third and final contestant named for the Top 3 is another from Team Adam, Matt McAndrew, whose name was called last. That means Damien (Team Adam) and Taylor Johnson Williams (Team Gwen) were sent packing, but in a twist on Wednesday morning, Damien was saved after being chosen as the Wild Card. Team Pharrell had no team members in the Top 5.
